As I have driven to Lakeview Camp the last
couple weeks I have noticed the wheat fields. They are “ripe for harvest” as
John 4:35 mentions. All that is needed is for the fields to dry out enough for
the farmers to get into the fields to harvest what looks like a very good crop.
The fields were “ripe for harvest” at the
Great Texas Pow Wow too, as boys and men from across the state of Texas
gathered for this first-ever event at the Royal Rangers camp at Lakeview.
Everyone came with expectation of a great event, but the altar services were
beyond expectation. Thursday night we started the Pow Wow with our evening
pageant and service with Pastor Steve Hill. Hundreds of boys and men responded
to the altar call for salvation, healing, and the infilling of the Holy Spirit.
Dozens of boys were slain in the Spirit on the stage that night and definite
healings were received. Friday night and Saturday night we again met for the
evening pageants and the ministry of Evangelist Randy Ruiz. Again we
experienced great responses to the messages from the boys and men in
attendance. While the rain was falling Sunday morning we concluded the Pow Wow
with a service with Second Lieutenant John Flach, a Royal Rangers Gold Medal of
Achievement recipient and former National Ranger of the Year who just graduated
from the US Military Academy at West Point. He spoke on making good choices in
life, especially good spiritual choices.
The Great Texas Pow Wow was held at
Lakeview Camp May 31-June 3, with over 1100 Rangers and commanders from all
three Texas districts coming together for this first combined camp. In addition
to the incredible services at night, during the day boys experienced a visit by
an Army Blackhawk helicopter and an Apache attack helicopter (including a
spectacular fly-over entrance), a professional jet ski team demonstration, an
historical battle re-enactment, a huge Frontiersmen Camping Fellowship village
with many demonstrations and displays, a day on the Lakeview Camp water slides,
and many field games and shooting sports activities. There was so much to do
that boys were worn out trying to do it all!
A great big thank you goes out to all the
commanders who brought their boys to Lakeview Camp, and who helped prepare the
harvest through their prayers before and during the camp. And thanks to the
staff that was assembled for this camp; they had to be flexible due to the
weather but we had an amazing camp in spite of the rain.
