Congratulations to all of our district Rangers of the Year for their performance at last September's district evaluation. Based on the outcome of that evaluation, three of our Rangers qualified for the regional evaluation that was held at the South Central Regional Conference in January.
Adventure Rangers Spencer Phinney and Stephen Warne from Church of Glad Tidings, Outpost 65, and Expedition Ranger Christopher Trower from Praise Temple Assembly of God, Outpost 377, represented our district well.
In Adventure Rangers, Spencer and Stephen both were named Regional Rangers of the Year with an Excellent evaluation. In addition, Spencer was the First Runner-Up in Adventure Rangers, second in the evaluations only to Ryan Braaten from South Texas.
In Expedition Rangers, Christopher was named Regional Ranger of the Year with an Outstanding evaluation. In addition, as the final scores were tabulated, Christopher emerged with the highest score among all of the Rangers who competed at this year's Regional Ranger of the Year evaluation. This meant that Christopher was also named our region's NATIONAL RANGER OF THE YEAR.
In the history of the national Ranger of the Year program, Christopher is the ninth Ranger from North Texas to receive this recognition. The national Ranger of the Year receives a college scholarship, a trip to Springfield this summer to meet with the national Royal Rangers staff, and a trip to the Eagle Rock Adventure Camp. This year Daisy donated an air rifle that was given to the national Ranger of the Year. Christopher will be a member of the National Royal Rangers Council this year and will be attending to represent all the boys from our entire region.
Congratulations to all three of these boys, and thank you for representing our district so well.
