2008 Academy of Ranger Training Minimize

This Royal Rangers training event is held every year. This year, for the first time, it will be held in September on the weekend following Labor Day -- September 5-6. It is open and available to all Royal Rangers commanders, Adventure Rangers, and Expedition Rangers in your outpost.

In order to attend, you will need to:

  1. Complete the registration form, including parent’s signature for those under 18, and pastor’s signature for those over 18
  2. Complete the medical information form
  3. Complete the Paintball waiver form if participating in that activity (attached to registration form)

We have a new and exciting list of classes for this year’s Academy of Ranger Training (ART). New this year is the provision to invite Adventure Rangers and Expedition Rangers to attend ART. This is consistent with National Commander Doug Marsh’s desire to see Royal Rangers become a “boy-lead, adult-facilitated ministry.” That can only happen if we train our boys so they can take on leadership roles in the outpost. Our Junior Leadership Training Academy is an important part of that training, and we hope that ART will also become an important part of that training of our Rangers too.

We encourage you to sign up for ART this year and learn some new skills that you can use in your Royal Rangers ministry as we work together to evangelize, equip, and empower the next generation of Christ-like men and servant leaders.

Classes include (you will be able to choose one of the following options):

  • LTA Training Camp-Out (Friday night and Saturday; adults only)
  • Ranger Kids Skills (Saturday only; adults only)
  • Shooting Sports (Friday night and Saturday)
    • Archery
    • Shot Gun Safety and Shooting
    • Small Bore Safety and Shooting
    • Black Powder Safety (to earn the FCF black powder shooters card)
    • Black Powder Shooting
    • Hunter Education/Safety
  • Introduction to Canoeing (Saturday only)
  • Introduction to Geocaching/Introduction to Paintball (Saturday only; adults only)
  • First Aid/CPR (Saturday only)

Some class sizes are limited, so sign up early to assure a spot for you and your boys!

A complete description of these classes, the schedule, registration form, etc., can be found in our ART information packet.

If you are attending the LTA training camp-out, here is your equipment list.
