The North Texas Royal Rangers have hosted a training event called the Academy of Ranger Training (ART) for many years. Each year this camp provides hands-on training in a variety of areas for our leaders, and for our Adventure and Expedition Rangers.
This year the ART will be held the weekend after Labor Day (September 10-12). The classes to be offered include:
- FCF Trail to the Wilderness Merits
- Archery Merit
- Black Powder Safety Course
- Black Powder and Rifle Instructor Course
- Leadership Training Academy (LTA) Camp-Out
- LTA Camp-Out for Girls Ministries Leaders
- First Aid/CPR
Complete descriptions of each of these classes may be found in the ART informational packet. Also in the information packet you will find the schedule, map to the camp, and most importantly the pre-registration form. It is very important that you pre-register for the class of your choice. Each one of these has a minimum number of attendees needed to hold the class. If you don’t pre-register, there is no guarantee that the class will be held. It will also cost you more to attend the camp if you don’t pre-register. If we have to cancel a class we will let you know before the ART so you can either choose another course or a full refund of your money. Pre-registrations need to be postmarked by September 3.
Notice on the registration form that there is a $10 per person discount on the registration fee if your outpost is chartered. This discount is one of the benefits of chartering. Since ART is held during the period when each outpost should be chartering again for the new academic year we give you the discount if you are chartered for 2009-10 or for 2010-11. Chartering for 2010-11 will open online on August 15.
